breaking news
When Massachusetts authorities thwarted the alleged plans by a group of students to murder teachers and students at their high school, it seemed to indicate that school administrators, teachers, and parents are paying more attention to the threat of school violence. Though highly publicized, violent deaths at school, like those at Columbine High, are rare events. Less than one percent of all homicides and suicides among school-aged children happen on school grounds or on the way to or from school or school-sponsored events. Researchers found that since the early 1990s the number of overall violent school deaths has declined. They also found that more than half of the time. An incident that ended in a violent death at school was preceded by a warning signal such as threats, notes, or journal entries.
