A local health department is recognized for outstanding performance in public health practice. The Jasper County Health Department received the award from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Jasper County was selected for the award based upon the local public health agency`s planning effort and management of the three day Route 66 Music Festival last July. That festival brought more than 250,000 visitors to Jasper County. The management and staff of the local health department were cited for following a carefully laid plan to assure that all health risks were addressed.
