Kleypas Decision Expected Friday

A southeast Kansas man on death row in that state will soon hear the ruling on his appeal. After more than one year of deliberation, the Kansas State Supreme Court is prepared to hand down its final ruling in the death appeal of Gary Kleypas. The decision is expected Friday. Kleypas was convicted for the 1996 murder of Pittsburgh State University student Kleypas`s death sentence is the first the Supreme Court has heard since capital punishment was reinstated almost twenty years ago. Attorneys for Kleypas presented more than 50 legal issues to the court concerning his case. But attorneys are pleased the justices are taking this long before handing down their opinions, saying this decision will change all future capital murder cases in the state.
