A Northwest Arkansas man accused of fatally slashing the throat of his five month old has pleaded innocent. Jerome Deasis entered the plea during a court arraignment in Bentonville. Last month prosecutors said they would seek the death penalty. The baby was found dead after a June 2000 fire that destroyed the family`s mobile home. Deasis is accused of setting the fire to cover up the killing. The baby`s mother was not home at the time.
