breaking news
The Jasper County Animal Shelters will have their budgets cut. The Joplin and Carthage animal shelters will be cut by 5%. The Jasper County Commissioners have stated that due to a tight budget, they can`t afford to give them any additional money. The facilities are asking for more money due to the increased numbers of animals they are taking in. In a years time the Joplin shelter took in over 7000 animals in 2001 and the Carthage shelter took in over 500 dogs. Money will continue to be provided to both of the facilities, but at a reduced rate.
