Burn Awareness Week

Each year thousands of children are severely burned. This week a national organization is doing it`s part to help prevent burns among children. It`s Burn Awareness Week and the Shriner`s want people to take precautions against children receiving burns. This year the Shriners are concentrating on preventing scald burns and they provide burn treatment to thousands of children. Joe Lea - Joplin Shriners "All medical is free and transportation is furnished by us. That`s where our bingo money comes in. We use that for transportation expenses we`re out." Since the 1960`s when the shrine opened its 3 Shriners hospitals dedicated to treating burns, a child`s chance of surviving a severe burn has nearly doubled.
