Oklahoma Education Crisis

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
A budget crunch could mean changes for Four State classrooms. Oklahoma teachers may be forced to take on larger classes because of a statewide budget crunch. The state has a 95 million dollar revenue shortfall this fiscal year, but even more of a concern is the projected short fall for next year, $350 million dollars. Several superintendents say they don`t plan to lay off teachers. They just won`t be filling any open positions, meaning classrooms could become crowded, but lawmakers say they do want to spare education as much as possible in the budget cuts.
