Updated: January 7, 2009
A Joplin man could be facing more charges after leading police on a high-speed chase. 24-year-old Cletis Roland was arrested yesterday after leading officers on a high-speed chase through Joplin and parts of Jasper County. Investigators say Roland allegedly beat and kicked a girlfriend then poured gasoline over her body. Roland is currently charged with first-degree assault, but prosecutors say that may soon change. The beating victim is being treated at a Joplin hospital. A Jasper County Sheriff`s Deputy suffered minor injuries after his car was rammed off the road during the high speed chase.
