Updated: January 7, 2009
Heres a follow up to a story we first brought you last month. The amazing story of 4 young girls who have brought to life the story of a holocaust hero. When these girls from Uniontown, Kansas started researching a history day project, they never knew the places it would take them. Their play, Life In A Jar, tells the story of Irena Sendler, a polish woman who saved nearly 2,500 children from being killed. A Jewish man who was very moved by the play raised money to send the girls to Poland to meet Sendler. While there, they were also able to meet several of the children Sendler helped save. And today, 2 of the children who were saved, were able to watch these girls perform life in a jar in their own hometown. Renata Zajdman - Holocaust Survivor "They are my legacy because I am one of the last witnesses and I feel this is a living testimony." After the play, the women were able to share their stories with today`s audience.
