Picher Police Chief Suspended Without Pay

A Four State chief of police is suspended from his duties today. Picher, Oklahoma Police Chief Ron Meador was suspended by the city council Thursday night. The council says that Meador has not completed the annual firearms certification. This certification is required by the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training. The council voted unanimously on suspending Chief Meador without pay. Meador also serves as the city`s marshall, but is only paid a dollar a year because he has no staff or office. Assistant Police Chief Robert Alexander will take over Meador`s duties.
