MSSC Name Change Update

Students at one local college may soon be seeing some big changes. Missouri Southern State College President Dr. Julio Leon says he is pleased the school is one step closer to becoming a university. The Missouri House of Representatives passed a bill on Wednesday that would allow Missouri Southern State College to become Missouri Southern University. Leon says the programs already offered at Southern are of the same caliber as other universities. Julio Leon - President Missouri Southern "The general perception is that a university of better than a college come to realization that if you don`t change your name, you will be considered a lesser quality when in fact we may be much better than other institutions that call themselves universities" The bill now goes to the senate for consideration.
