KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The NFL season kicks off on Wednesday when the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys.

Everyone else will play their football on Sunday.

That includes the Kansas City Chiefs who host Atlanta for a Week 1 showdown at Noon.

The Chiefs are coming off a fairly disappointing preseason, losing their last three games and being outscored 99-34 in those losses.

The Chiefs will have their hands full with Atlanta.

The Falcons have won at least ten games and made the playoffs three out of the last four years.

"They're excited about getting started, focusing on a team," said Head Coach Romeo Crennel. "We've got a good Atlanta team coming in. They have some skill on all sides of the ball really. We're going to have to play our best to win so we are beginning to start that process and prepare to do that."

"They've got a great team," said linebacker Andy Studebaker. "They've done some big things in the last couple of years and they've got some great players. But you know, so do we. We've been working hard all camp. We've known that they were coming this entire time and I think we're going to be prepared and we'll be ready for them."
