Bears Crush Colts To Open Season 9/9/12

Chicago, Illinois-Jay Cutler hasn't always had the luxury of a strong running game or a lot of weapons to throw to. This season, it appears that he has both.

The Chicago Bears shook off a tough start to ruin Andrew Luck's regular season debut, using a versatile offense to put up their highest point total in nearly three years.

The Bears opening drive started off poorly, with Cutler facing intense pressure in the pocket and throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown by Indianapolis linebacker Jerrell Freeman. However, Cutler shook off that pick to throw for 333 yards and two touchdowns, one to Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.

The Bears running game also looked strong. Matt Forte led the way with 16 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown, but newcomer Michael Bush also scored two touchdowns, getting the majority of the carries inside the red zone.

Brian Urlacher did play in the opener, but was pulled from the game after things got out of hand. Urlacher made two tackles and defended a pass during his time on the field.
