Chicago, Illinois-Coming off a dismal performance in Green Bay, the maligned duo of Jay Cutler and his offensive line weren't flawless against the Rams, but they were good enough.
"We're not ready to, you know, to stop practicing," said Lovie Smith. "We have a long way to go, in
all three phases though, but it's a step in the right direction."
"Hit
and miss, but at the end of the day, we won the game," said Cutler. "Offensively, there are
some things we can do better, but the idea is to win. It's not a solo tennis
match out there."
"The
Chicago offensive line answered all the questions about the unit coming into
Sunday's game, but the defensive line stole the show. 6 sacks and a lot of
quarterback hurries on Sam Bradford, including one that led to a pick 6, that
sealed the game for the Bears.
Julius Peppers lead the line, but with five players getting sacks against St. Louis the Bears know that a group effort is the key to success.
"We talk a lot about the flexibility we have on the
defensive line, where they can all play different positions," said Smith. "There's just not
one guy; they're taking time, they're taking different turns of getting
pressure."
"They're consistently getting better and better," said Cutler. "
It's hard because they're at such a really good level. To see them go out and
dominate like that, they were in complete control I thought."
