Tony Romo Extension Talks End

Updated: October 2, 2012

ARLINGTON -- Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys have put an end to extension talks.

The Cowboys were involved with Romo's agent, RJ Gonser, to talk about a long term extension that would lower Romo's salary cap hit for 2013 but those talks have been put on hold until the end of the season.

Romo has two years left on his current contract and is currently making a base salary of 825,000 this season and is scheduled to make 11.5 million in 2013.

The suspended talks are not seen as a negative issue between the player and the team but rather an issue of not wanting to cause a distraction during the season.
