FOREST, IL - Bears CB Tim Jennings was named NFC Defensive Player of the
Month for September after recording an NFL high four interceptions to go along
with 18 tackles, one tackle for a loss and six pass break ups, two of which led
to interceptions by other Bears players.
Jennings has already established a career-high with his four interceptions. He
has been a key component of a Bears defense that ranks first in the NFL in
takeaways (14), red zone scoring efficiency (60.0, six scores in 10 opponent red
zone trips) and Aikman Rating (90.1), second in third down percentage (26.1, 12
of 46) and fifth in the league in scoring defense (17.0 points per
game).
This is Jennings' first Player of the Month award and he is the second Bears
defensive player to be honored in the last three months of the award after DE
Julius Peppers was honored in November of 2011. He is the third Bears
player honored overall in the last four months after Devin Hester was
named Special Teams Player of the Month in October of 2011.
