Cutler To Undergo Medical Tests 11/12/12

Updated: November 12, 2012
Lake Forest, Illinois-The Bears won't know until later in the week whether or not Jay Cutler will be able to play next Monday night in San Francisco.

Cutler needs to undergo medical/memory tests after suffering a concussion Sunday against the Texans. He also needs to be cleared to play by an independent neurologist.

Cutler can't speak to the media until he is medically cleared to play.

Lovie Smith says the Bears will play it safe with Cutler and with Shea McClellin who also suffered a concussion Sunday.

"Just like a player gets a concussion or any other injury, we'll continue to evaluate them before we let them go back in. As far as whether the players will be ready to go this week, we don't know that. We have an extra day to get prepared for the 49ers. Hopefully they will be ready to go."
