Chicago, Illinois-What a difference six days makes. Now the Vikings naturally they're not the 49ers, but they did come in here with a winning record, and the Bears took it to them.
It always helps when you have your starting quarterback back in the lineup. Jay Cutler played well today coming off that concussion.
"Jay's one of the best quarterbacks in the league," says Bears Coach Lovie Smith. "Everybody needs their starting quarterback playing. Of course we're no different. We expected him to give us a boost."
"There's nothing like your starting quarterback when you have a guy that's leading you as talented as Jay," says receiver Brandon Marshall.
Cutler's scrambling ability helped the Bears patched up offensive line out immensely. He was sacked only once.
"When you've got a lot of new guys in there I want to get rid of the ball fast, find my first down and take it and limit sacks because sacks really kill the guys up front," says Cutler.
"Having him in the game was definitely a positive," says offensive tackle Jonathan Scott. "He got the offense rolling and put us in good field position. I can't say enough. It was just a great performance."
The defense did its part by preventing Adrian Peterson from breaking off any long plays and by forcing three turnovers. The only downside to this win, six Bears went down with injuries.
"I normally don't write down injuries on a sheet here there was so many I had to to remember them all," said Smth.
The Vikings haven't won here at Soldier Field since 2007, so that streak remains intact. And the Bears are assured of staying in first place at least another week until the Seahawks come in here next Sunday.
