Bears Seeking Offense 9/27/12

By: Scott Leber
Updated: October 1, 2012

This was supposed to be the year that Jay Cutler took a step forward and asserted himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

"You know it's the first year in the offense," says Cutler. "It's going to take time, very few teams go out there with a new offensive coordinator and new system and put up 30-40 points a game."

Cutler has struggled despite the addition of good friend and star receiver Brandon Marshall. He appeared to be frustrated when asked about his decision-making so far.

"I need to know the specifics," says Cutler. "What are you getting at, I don't know. It depends on what coverage, it depends on a lot of things. There are a lot of variables. You can't just make a vague statement of 'If they're giving him extra attention can you go to him.'"

Although they might not want to admit it, the Bears offense is becoming a point of concern. Going into their week 4 matchup with Dallas, their offense is ranked 27
th in the NFL.

"I have to do a better job whether they are playing one or two or doubling me. And also rely on my teammates."

Since the Bears will be facing a versatile defense Monday in Dallas, star running back Matt Forte wold help if he can return from an injured ankle. And don't forget the Bears record is still 2-1 going into Dallas.

"That's what I care about," says running back Michael Bush. "The numbers could be ugly but we're winning, 2-1. I can't complain about it."
