The Bears dodged a bullet Monday night when Jay Cutler was not seriously injured after being sacked by the Lions Ndamukong Suh.
Everyone thought when Cutler was crushed by Suh Monday night
that the Bears would lose their QB to injury just as they did last season. But
Cutler was able to shake off the blow.
"Jay Cutler is a tough S-O-B, says offensive coordinator
Mike Tice. "For him to come back and suck it up, you could tell he was score,
but I'm very, very proud of him."
Wednesday Cutler shrugged off concerns that his sore ribs
might limit the throws he'll be able to make this Sunday.
"I think I'll by Sunday it'll all be cleared up. I'll be
fine."
Cutler admits he was fortunate not to be more seriously
injured, and he says he doesn't think Suh was guilty of a cheap shot.
"I don't have a problem with that. I really don't," says
Cutler. "He plays hard at football. That's just who he is. I don't think it was
dirty. He plays an aggressive style."
Even though Cutler says he has no problem with Suh's hit,
Brandon Marshall has a different view. He expressed that on twitter this week
criticizing Suh.
"Yea I'm not going to back off from that. For me I just
think it wasn't a good football play," says
From Cutler's perspective...the best thing that came out of
the Suh sack was that Bears fans actually cheered him when he got up and walked
off the field.
"That was good to hear," says Cutler. "It hasn't always been
great around here, but they're coming around slowly but surely and whenever I
got up it was a nice ovation when I cam back out, so that was fun."
