A company on Indianapolis' east side has the honor of making official T-shirts for Super Bowl XLVI.

Employees at The Sports Licensed Division of The Adidas Group labored well into the night on Sunday printing thousands of shirts for the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.

"We are applying anywhere from 6 to 12 colors to a shirt," manager Joe Cripe said. "If a shirt just has a graphic on the front, that's 300 to 500 shirts an hour."

Managers said the design for the shirt was completed last week, but the printing had to wait until the final score of the championship games.

"We (couldn't) do anything until we knew who the winner (was)," Cripe said.

Employees said they started working on the Patriots T-shirts as soon as they learned of the team's AFC win.

"Everyone has kind of got their favorite team who they're going for. Obviously the business always has someone they want to win for (sales), but it's exciting everybody really gets into it," employee Phil Skinner said. "When you have to wait to the final minute it adds nothing but excitement, it's fun to be here. We're all Colts fans so it's a little bittersweet that we're printing Patriot shirts, but it's fun either way."

Managers said this year's printing will be the plant's last because the licensing rights will go to a competitor next year.

"It never gets old. Every year, the excitement is there," Cripe said. "We prepare for this like the teams prepare for the games."

The facility will also print Super Bowl championship shirts.
