One of the top finalists is the Schnitzelbank's bratwurst sandwich from Jasper.
The contest is a joint effort from the Super Bowl host committee and the Indiana Office of Tourism, meant to showcase Indiana restaurants and foods to Super Bowl visitors.
More than 200,000 people have voted in this sandwich contest. The Schnitzelbank says it's excited to be in the top four and they're thrilled to see the extra business this contest has brought to town.
It's their new best seller, thanks to the super sandwich contest. This is the bratwurst sandwich.
It's a big goal for the Schnitzelbank in Jasper. The German restaurant started in the top 46 and not they are in the final four for the top sandwich in the state.
Before the contest started, the restaurant was serving around 150 brats a week, now they are serving more than 500 brats a week.
"It's great, this time of year, it's like having Strassenfest in January and the community is so excited about it," Alan Hanselman said.
It's an economic driver for the Schnitzelbank. State tourism officials say even though Jasper and Evansville won't see any hotel impact from the Super Bowl, this contest is a way to tell the story of the super sandwiches in the Hoosier state.
"One of the great aspects of this promotion is we really wanted to tell the story of Indiana foods, Indiana restaurants, local businesses in Indiana and tell the great story of Indiana foods, as these 150,000 visitors come in to our state for the Super Bowl, we want to tell a great story and then get them to return in the future," Amy Vaughan said.
The Indiana Office of Tourism Development tells Eyewitness News, not only does the winner get a lot of attention during the Super Bowl, but if they are interested, they will get the chance to serve their super sandwich at the Super Bowl.
"We know that the Super Bowl Host Committee in Indianapolis has been very pleased as well because one of the things that's real important to them is to get the impact of the Super Bowl out throughout the state. So it's important to them as well as to us. One of the things that the Super Bowl is encouraging people to say while they're in Indy is to have a Super Day and that's something we think this contest has done," Vaughan said.
