Southeast Texas Republican Candidate Changes Districts

By: Karen Rummery
Updated: March 15, 2012
Voters are not the only ones who sometimes struggle to make a decision during election season, candidates sometimes can't decide what they're running for.

That's the case of former Southeast Texas Congressman Steve Stockman.

Stockman filed last week as a Republican Candidate for the newly re-drawn District 14 Seat.

That district includes Jefferson, Galveston and Brazoria counties.

Fox 4 has learned that Stockman has now decided to run for the new District 36, which includes Orange, Hardin, Jasper, Liberty and Newton Counties.

Stockman does not live in that district, but the constitution doesn't require congress members to live in the district they represent.
