The race for Indiana's senate seat is as heated as ever -- a new poll by the Mourdock Campaign shows him leading one point over longtime Senator Dick Lugar. But could an email scandal hurt the treasurers chances?
On Wednesday, the associated press published an email sent by Mourdock's campaign manager directing staffers to a republican party voter database called "sales force."
The email tells staff to "pillage" email addresses from the database. Opponents say the email shows that campaign may have been using the party's database incorrectly -- a violation of party rules.
The republican party has suspended the Mourdock campaign's access to the system while an investigation is conducted.
The Mourdock campaign denies the claims and says the email was a joke and was taken out of context.
