Voter Turnout in Washington County

By: Cassidy Hodges
Updated: May 22, 2012
Washington County officials say the voter turnout isn't overwhelming, but it's steady. We spoke with many leaving the polls who came out to voice their opinions on one of the hot topics on this ballot, like the tax increase for public transportation in Washington County. Across the county, residents dropped by their polling locations and even though the general elections usually get a bigger turnout, voters today say it's important to cast your ballot every chance you can. "We're very privileged to have a voice in our government and if we don't exercise that responsibility, we're just abdicating that responsibility and all that comes with it," said voter Chaim Goodman-Strauss. "We have our freedom for a reason and it's important to exercise it." We'll have continuing coverage of this and all elections across NWA, coming up tonight at 10.
