Craig Estes and Jim Herblin want to be your choice for Senate District 30.
    Craig Estes in the incumbent.
He's from Wichita Falls and was first elected in a special election in 2001.
He was re-elected in the next three elections.
Estes says experience is his strength.
"I enjoy my committee work.  I'm chairman of agriculture and rural affairs and vice chairman of natural resources, and on the finance committee which is kind of important because that's where we do the budget and that's where the money is," Estes says.
He says budgeting is the biggest problem the state faces, especially budgeting for education.
"Hopefully we will be able to refund the critical funding we cut from the public schools.  My 107 school districts got an average between a four-and-a-half and an eight-and-a-half percent cut," Estes says.
Jim Herblin is a certified public accountant and small business owner who lives in Prosper, TX.
He's worked as a precinct chairman, Republican convention delegate, and various roles in his local community.
Herblin says his political views are his strong suit.
"I think we need conservative leadership in Austin, and we just don't have that right now.  I believe conservative leadership involves two things: both fiscal and social issues.  Right now we've got the social conservative, but we're missing the fiscal conservative part of it," Herblin says.
And he says balancing the Texas budget is crucial.
"First of all we have to ask the question: is it the government's role?  If it's not, then take those items out of the budget.  Secondly we need to look at a zero base budget and really focus on the needs," Herblin says.
Early primary voting continues through Friday.
Locations will be at the Wichita County Courthouse, Sikes Senter Mall, and Home Depot.
    The Texas primary is Tuesday.
